Kylie D. Barnhart serves as an Associate General Counsel for West Virginia University. As an Associate General Counsel, Kylie assists in a variety of legal matters including litigation, trademark and copyright, Freedom of Information Act requests, and contracts.
Prior to joining the WVU Office of General Counsel, Kylie worked as an associate attorney at Steptoe & Johnson PLLC in Bridgeport, WV from 2017 through 2019. At Steptoe & Johnson, Kylie focused her practice on general civil litigation, energy litigation, and professional liability defense. Kylie is admitted to practice in the state courts of West Virginia, as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia.
A native of Wadestown, West Virginia, Kylie
graduated Order of the Coif from WVU College of Law in 2017. She
graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia University in 2014
with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and was a University Honors
Scholar. While in law school, Kylie served on the West Virginia Law
Review. Kylie currently volunteers as a child advocate with the
Monongalia County Court Appointed Special Advocates for Kids (“CASA”) and is
President of the Harrison County CASA Board of Directors.
