Chase C. Riggs serves as Assistant General Counsel for West Virginia University. As Assistant General Counsel, Chase assists the University with various legal matters, including Freedom of Information Act requests and contract review.
Chase is a native of Bridgeport, WV. Prior to joining the WVU Office of General Counsel, Chase worked in his hometown as an associate at Steptoe & Johnson PLLC, focusing his practice on both federal and state employment law issues. Chase graduated from West Virginia University College of Law in 2024. While in law school, he served as an editor to the West Virginia Law Review and was a Peer Writing Consultant for the College of Law’s Writing Center. Chase also graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
