Michael J. Spooner serves as Senior Associate General Counsel for West Virginia University. As an Senior Associate General Counsel, Mike assists in a variety of matters including litigation; business transactions; employment law; accessibility; student accounts; ethics; conflict of interest; and FOIA.
Prior to joining the WVU Office of General Counsel, Mike
worked as an Associate Attorney at Steptoe and Johnson PLLC in Bridgeport, West
Virginia from 2015 to 2017 focusing his practice on employment
litigation. Prior to attending law school, Mike worked in payroll and
human resources for a manufacturing company in his hometown of Orange,
Massachusetts.
Mike graduated Order of the Coif from WVU College of Law in 2015. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a degree in history in 2009. Mike resides in Morgantown, West Virginia.
